
BENTON COUNTY—A 5-year-old boy who was watching rising flood waters from a bridge in Benton County, Missouri, slipped into the current and was later rescued.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported the boy from Lincoln, Missouri was rescued after floodwaters swept him under a rural Missouri bridge. He was pulled beneath the bridge and resurfaced about 10-yard away. The near-drowning occurred just after 9a.m. on Thursday, April 2, near Rambow Road and Beeman Avenue in Benton County.
Rescuers pulled the child to safety and he was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment. The MSHP did not release his name or provide an update on his condition. Lincoln is located approximately 2 hours southeast of Kansas City.
