Ellen Marie Joslin, age 71, Maryville, Missouri died unexpectedly at her home, Thursday, September 4, 2025. Ellen was born January 27, 1954, in Maryville. She was the daughter of Xavier F. and Evelyn (Wallingford) Henggeler.
As a child she grew up on the Henggeler Century Family Farm in Clyde, Missouri. Ellen went to Mount Alverno High School, Maryville and later graduated from St. Francis Acadamy of Nevada, Missouri. Ellen had also attended classes at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
She was united in marriage to Virgil Dale Joslin, October 27, 1973. To this union five children were born, Maria, Chris, Jonathan, Nick and Patrick. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2018.Over the years Ellen’s work experience had allowed her to become friends with many people.
Her jobs included being a teller at the Nodaway Valley Bank, cashier/clerk for St. Francis Hospital (40 plus years), Walmart as a greeter (20 years), and the Association of Group Homes all of Maryville. She also had many in the community which were regulars on her homemade cookie list.
Ellen was a member of St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church, Maryville. Ellen volunteered when she could to help in any way possible with the church. The annual church rummage sale was an event she always looked forward to.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Robert (Bob) Henggeler.
Her survivors include daughter Maria (Lee) Cossins, sons Chris, Jonathan, Nick and Patrick (Allison) Joslin, three granddaughters Kassidy Nicole, Kyah Marie and Jade Teresa Joslin, two brothers Leroy (Judy) and Edwin (Mary) Henggeler, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 13. 2025 at St. Gregory’s Barbarigo Catholic Church in Maryville. Friends wishing to sign the book and pay their respects can do so Saturday from 8-10 AM prior to the services. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville.
Memorials may be given to the Stanberry Ministry Center, Missouri Second Harvest Community Food Bank or St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hann Funeral Home, Grant City, Missouri.
