It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Peterson, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend on June 9, 2025.
He was born on November 7, 1943 in Ogden, Iowa.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Clint and Edith Peterson, and by his loving wife, Donna Peterson, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond.
He is survived by his children: Scott Peterson, Royceanne Peterson, Bob Peterson, and Ryan Peterson (wife Brooke Peterson); and by his cherished grandchildren: Stephanie Niles-Peterson, Jordyn Peterson, Addie Drew (husband Connor Drew), Kenna Slaughter (Kadyn), Sammi Jo Peterson, Max Peterson, and Cruz Peterson.
Today, we say goodbye to a man whose stories, strength, and heart shaped all of us who loved him.
Our dad lived a life full of laughter, love, resilience—and deep compassion. He was never one to seek the spotlight, yet his presence filled every room. He had a gift for storytelling that could hold a crowd, and an even greater gift for kindness—especially toward animals. Whether it was a stray dog, a barn cat, or a wild creature in need, he had a way of connecting with them that felt almost magical. They trusted him, because they recognized the gentleness in his soul.
He was our protector, our historian, and our steady guide through life. Above all, he was a devoted husband to our mom. Their love was quiet but powerful, the kind that endures beyond this life. As we grieve his absence, we take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with her now—his partner, his love, his home.
We will miss him more than words can say. But we carry his spirit in our hearts, in our laughter, and in every story we pass down.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the John Peterson Memorial Fund in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O.
