KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Kansas City.
Just before 2:30a.m., Kansas City police officers responded to reports of a burglary at 9500 Blue Ridge Boulevard, according to a media release. The report was of multiple suspects breaking into a building and storage container.
At the scene, KCPD officers found three people who ran. Two tried to get into a vehicle where an altercation occurred as officers attempted to take the two suspects into custody. During the altercation, one officer fired their duty weapon.
The gunfire struck the 35-year-old female in the driver's seat of the car. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another male suspect at the vehicle was arrested.
Officers took the third suspect into custody several blocks away.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control is in charge of investigating the officer involved shooting. KCPD is investigating the burglary.
