Mo. Sheriff's deputy airlifted to hospital after fatal wrong-way crash

CARROLL COUNTY, Mo. —Law enforcement are investigating a fatal crash involving a sheriff's deputy that occurred just after 2p.m. Sunday in Carroll County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2001 Ford pickup driven by a 50-year-old Bosworth, Missouri man was northbound on MO 139 at County Road 220 on the wrong side of the road. The pickup struck a 2023 Carroll County Dodge patrol vehicle driven by a 41-year-old female deputy head-on. 

The. pickup driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Bittiker Funeral Home. An air ambulance transported the deputy to the University of Missouri Hospital. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
