Chlorina Nadine Monk Fitzwater was born August 3, 1934, to Lawson and Bessie Mae (Gardner) Monk near Percival, Iowa in Fremont County. She was the seventh child of nine in her family.
She attended school in Percival and Strahan, IA., and Ainsworth, NE. As a young girl she was a very active member of 4-H, the Methodist Church, Methodist Youth Fellowship and an excellent basketball player.
On August 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Billie Bruce Fitzwater. To this union, four sons were born, and one adopted daughter came into their lives. Steven Lee was born on March 18, 1953, Skip (Scott) Lee was born on June 14, 1955, Joe Lynn was born on July 11, 1958, Bruce Warren was born on September 25, 1962. They adopted Peggy Lee, who was born on January 25, 1965.
When Bill and Chlorina married they lived for 1 year in Braymer, Missouri, then Bill was drafted into the United States Army and Chlorina moved to El Paso, Texas to be with her husband for 2 ½ years. When Bill was discharged, they moved back to Braymer, MO., for 2 years, then to Nodaway, IA., in 1958 and since has made her home in Adams County.
Preceding her in death is her husband Billie, son Steven Lee, great-grandchild Nicole Ann Fitzwater, her parents Lawson and Bessie Mae (Gardner) Monk, five sisters Jessie Mae (Monk) Carson, Alice Marie Monk, Mary Gertrude (Monk) Stogdill, Letha (Monk) Bayes, Betty June (Monk) Snover, and one brother Frances Walter Monk.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law Mary Ann Fitzwater, DuBois, ID; sons Scott (Mary), Albuquerque NM; Joe (Theresa), Aberdeen, NC; Bruce, Council Bluffs, IA and daughter Peggy (Jeff) Villisca, IA; sister Carol and brother Frank; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and wonderful lifetime friends.
Visitation is set for Saturday, June 21, 2025 at noon, Advent Christian Church, 300 S. 2nd Avenue, Villisca, IA. The funeral will follow at 1 PM.
Memorials can be made to the Villisca Ambulance Service, or to the Good Samaritan Society Activities Fund.
