Paul “Bud” Osborne passed away at his home on December 9, 2024, at the age of 93.

Paul was born to William and Ollie Osborne in Gentry County, Missouri, on October 17, 1931. On January 15, 1956, Paul married Ila Lappin of Cedar, Iowa. Paul and Ila were loving parents to their children, Leslie, David, Blake, and Deena. Paul and Ila were also adoring grandparents to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, making wonderful memories while playing cards and sports and traveling with them.

Those preceding him in death are his wife Ila, parents William and Ollie, sisters Carrie Malson, Edna Cook, Lorena Gillespie, Letha Caraway, and Suzanne Young, and brothers Charles, Earl, and Henry.

Paul spent 41 years working for P.M. Place Company. In 1966, after 19 years of managing retail stores in Iowa, Bud returned to Missouri and settled in Bethany. At that time, he joined the buying staff at Place’s and then assumed the role of managing the distribution center and supervising the construction and maintenance of all store locations throughout Missouri and Iowa. Upon retiring at 58, Paul shared the ownership of a small retail store, The Spirit Shoppe, with Ila. They loved engaging with the community and the friendships found while serving their customers. Paul also dedicated ten years to the formation and operation of the Public Water Supply Dist. #2 Harrison County, serving as president. He was diligent in his quest to meet the rural water needs of the county.

In 1998, Paul and Ila moved to Gentry County to spend their time mastering gardening and cutting grass. While tinkering in his meticulous workshop, he created anything from furniture to miniatures, which he graced to his family and friends.

Following Ila’s death in 2015, Paul moved to Bethany to spend his remaining years. He found peace and support in his fellowship at First United Methodist Church of Bethany, steadfastly attending Sunday services and Tuesday’s Handyman group.

Paul has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. His remains will inurned at Grandview Cemetery in Albany, next to his wife Ila.

A Memorial Graveside Service and Inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 27, in Grandview Cemetery, Albany, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Attendees are invited to a reception following the service at the Bethany Methodist Church, Bethany, MO.
